Daniela Silicz

The reflection of the faces in the mirrors, show all aspects of it from different angles. Also how the pattern of the dress clashes with the wallpaper to make it stand out. This image uses the rule of thirds, the first part of the mirror is the 1st third, the second is the other line of the division. This accentuates the face by it being in the middle of the all of the mirrors and by it being reflected three times, this makes it the main focus of the image. The shape of all the mirrors draws your eye into the middle of the photo and the middle of the mirror, which is of the models face. The wallpaper and the dress both give the image texture and it also tells the on - looker as the ear of the photo – the 70’s. The way that the model is posed draws your eyes upwards to the top left hand corner of the picture; this means you see the whole picture. The lighting being above her means that she gets shadow on her face however lights the top part bringing more attention to her. By using the mirrors, it shows multiple images inside of one image. The mood is also created by the lighting, where it is quite dark and the only lighting is coming from the top of the image it gives it this eerie look. The view that us as an audience get is straight on, which I find unusual because the picture itself is an angle.
The model is looking out of the photo. By doing this means you (as an on looker) follow her eyes and look to the right hand side of the photo. This is also enhanced by how close the camera is to her face.  The lighting on this photo is quite dark however it makes the focus on her face, by outing her body in darker lighting. The makeup is dark around her eyes as it draws out the white and makes them stand out more, this also emphasises the focal point. By having such plain facial expressions this shows the emotion and mood of the image. By having her hair done, in a polka dot dress, with a necklace and subtle make up shows us a lot about the models character – which she takes care of her appearance. There wouldn’t have been much editing done to this image, just the usual, airbrushing and eye whitening. This makes the face flawless and so called ‘perfect’.

This image by Daniela Silicz is a jumping shot. A jumping shot is when the photographer catches the image, when the model is jumping and is in mid air, so their feet are not on the floor. This is done by using a fast shutter speed. It can be many different poses and different styles. However Daniela Silicz has cropped of her feet and legs, this doesn’t add anything for the photo. The model is looking out of the photo so your eyes get drawn that way, although this is helped along by the arms being out stretched. The background is not adding anything for the image and is too busy. Personally I feel it would look a lot better without it, or the background being plainer. If I was to recreate this I would choose a lower aperture, to make the background not a focus of the image. The way it is edited (in black and white with a high contrast) this means the dress stands out from the sky and means the model becomes the main focus of the image.
